DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE – “THE GHOSTS OF BEVERLY DRIVE” SINGLE REVIEW

Death Cab For Cutie are back with another single from forthcoming album ‘Kintsugi’, their 8th and last album to feature guitarist and producer Chris Walla, who made an exit from the group in 2014.

The Ghosts Of Beverly Drive‘ is a catchy acoustic tune holding the same relaxed band style feels that most of the group’s songs hold. It comes with thought-provoking lyrics about lost lovers and apparant car accidents, with Gibbard crooning, “I don’t know why I return to the scene of these crimes”, and “oohs” and “ahhs” inputted when necessary. The guitar is accompanied nicely with a driving bass that adds a rocky atmosphere to the Coldplay/Mumford And Sons-esque track. The song comes after the release of a few other songs from the upcoming album, all with the same minimalist yet very American vibe – we can no doubt expect more of this in future tracks.

Death Cab For Cutie will be playing 3 sold out nights at Shepherds Bush Empire in June. The album “Kintsugi” is available from March 31st.
